Sherlock Holmes

 Sherlock Holmes

Author: Sir Arthur Conan Doyle

This book is a Crime Fiction and is the 6th installation in the Sherlock Holmes series. All the books/stories are narrated by Dr Watson, Holmes’ assistant. Sherlock Holmes has always been a popular character as he is a keen observer, being able to recreate a scene from very little evidence and having amazing senses. He is also shown to be not at all attracted to women in various books. The book contains 2 stories- The Sign Of Four and The Hound Of the Baskervilles each containing 12 and 15 chapters respectively. The First Story- The Sign Of Four – is set in 1888. The complex plot involves service in the East India Company, India, The Revolt of 1857, a stolen treasure and a secret pact between 4 convicts and 2 corrupt prison guards. It also introduces Mr. Holmes’ drug habit and Dr Watson’s future wife. The second story – The Hound Of The Baskervilles- is set in 1889. The plot involves an attempted murder inspired by the legend of the huge, fearsome and diabolical hound of supernatural origin. The story also includes characters like Dr Mortimer, Sir Henry Baskerville and many more. Both the stories are sure to give the reader a feeling of suspense, thrill, mystery, excitement and more. The Sherlock Holmes series also include 2 other novels and other stories. The story can also improve the vocabulary of the reader with words like deduction, aortic, sordid, melancholy etc. And by this I would like to conclude my review. I hope this has been a source of information to you.
